The history of Buck Knives goes all the way back to a man named Hoyt Buck. He was a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice, who was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. With this unique approach, he produced the very first Buck Knife in 1902.

Factory Tours

If you’re in the area, stop in for a free factory tour and see how Buck Knives are made. We love to share how our quality knives are made. Tours are offered year-round, Monday through Thursday at 10:00am and 2:00pm. Reservations are required to ensure accommodation, so please call ahead to reserve your spot. Give us a call at (800) 326-2825 x172. The tour will last about 45 minutes, so please plan accordingly. As a precaution, all participants MUST wear fully closed shoes (closed-toe and closed heel).

It’s a knife factory, after all! And if you’re wondering if you can bring the whole family, you’ll be pleased to know that children seven years old and up are welcome to tour the factory. The Buck Knives factory is located in Post Falls, ID (between Spokane, WA, and Coeur d’Alene, ID) on 660 S. Lochsa St.

Directions to Buck Knives Plant

For directions; take I-90 to Exit 2 (Pleasant View Road), and go south to Lochsa. Then turn right and follow Lochsa down to the Buck Knives plant. A visitor park is available. There is also a beautiful gift shop that allows visitors to take home a unique souvenir. Unlike the limited hours or reservation requirements of the factory tour, the gift shop is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:30am - 5:00pm. We hope to you see you soon!
